3.17. Caveats, Limitations, and Performance ConsiderationsThis topic is intended to address any notable caveats, limitations and performance considerations when using IRM application.
DESIGN WORLDWhen drawing objects in the Design World, if possible, avoid drawing more then 10000 cables in a single Design World Area. Attempting to draw and manage significantly higher number of Cables will slow down the application response on most common user actions, like zoom, opening object Properties dialog, select, move, etc.
CLIENT HARDWARE RECOMMENDATIONSWhen using IRM for larger and more complex operations, you should consider running the Web Client on a fairly powerful desktop or laptop machine. On one hand, IRM has many optimizations, but on the other hand, as with any CAD software, using an underpowered machine may lead to poor performance. Use the following minimum recommendations for all clients machines:
REPORTINGThere is no specific limitation for how many objects can appear in a report, but the user should be wary of trying to run a report that lists very large number of objects. For example if the system contains hundreds of thousands of equipment objects, it is almost certainly a bad idea to attempt running an equipment listing report over all of them, as such a report would take a very long time to process and would likely exhaust the memory on the user's machine. It is wise to start with much smaller numbers of objects and get a feel for the processing time and memory required, before attempting to create very large reports. MAC SYSTEMThe MAC system is limited to recording 2000 log entries per ticket. A Log entry can be any number of items such as Add Equipment , Connect Port, Disconnect Port, Add Cable Route cable Delete Cable, etc. Each type of action results in at least a single log entry and sometime multiple log entries per action.E.g. Disconnecting a 25 pair cable from a 110 block will result in 25 log entries, one for each cable pair disconnect operation. |
