3.11. IRM users

An IRM user is someone who uses the IRM software and should not be confused with the “user” categorized object -- the latter is IRM’s representation of a person being managed under IRM.
In IRM documentation, the term “IRM user” is used to differentiate an IRM user from a User contact.

There are different varieties of IRM users, who exercise different functionality in the IRM system:
  • Report viewers - can only run, view, and download reports and exported data
  • Report administrators - can do what report viewers can do, plus define new reports
  • Ordinary users - can do what report administrators, plus operate the Web Client user interface that enables viewing and changing detailed IRM data
  • Administrators - can do what ordinary users can do, plus the following:
  • Configuring Security Policies

More detail about these user varieties can be found in the Administrators' Guide.

The Global Console tool is used to authenticate with the IRM application.
