4.5.4. BMC

IRM includes the option of licensing special integration support for several BMC applications:
  • BMC MidTier application
  • BMC Helix ITSM
  • BMC Atrium CMDB
  • BMC Atrium Product Catalog

These integrations make workflows related to BMC change requests and IRM Projects and MACs substantially easier and more efficient to perform, and allow linking BMC CIs and Catalog entries with IRM Library and object instances.

Following the same general strategies of special integrations with other software, IRM supports Proxy objects generated on behalf of the BMC application by a special IRM integration service application.

Click on the following link to learn more about IRM general integration concepts and principles, as well as different types of objects used for interoperability with external applications.

For BMC Proxy Source, IRM supports the concept of Discovery Sets, objects that keep statistics of BMC-sourced Proxies, such as the number of successfully correlated Proxies per Category (such as Routers, Switches, etc.), the total number of  successfully correlated Proxies, etc. These Discovery Sets can be viewed in a special IRM Web Client dialog - the Discovery Manager, which lists them as part of BMC Collections of Proxy objects and enables synchronization upon it with the BMC CMDB. In addition, the dialog also lists Task Requests, which specify objects and other configuration information for creating and/or correlating Proxy objects against the Atrium CMDB.

The IRM-BMC integration can be configured via IRM's BMC Proxy Source, which used by both IRM and the integration service as necessary.

These and additional features and common IRM-BMC workflows are explained in more detail in the following subtopics.
