4.5.3.1. Cable Test Manager dialog general features and design
This topic and its child subtopics focus on describing the main elements of the Cable Test Manager dialog and how those elements work. Specific use cases are described through separate topics and and linked throughout this and other topics, as appropriate, for relevant user interface elements.
The Cable Test Manager is a manager-type dialog divided into multiple panels:
The left panel has a two-level tree showing Linkware Projects and Subprojects.
The top-center data grid lists Task Requests; this is populated upon a Project or Subproject selection, each Task Request is associated with exactly one Project or Subproject.
The bottom-center pane lists Cables; this is populated when a Task Request is selected, or when the dialog is entered via the Push to Linkware Live⦠context menu item for Cables.
The right panel lists report PDFs; this is populated upon selection of a Project or Subproject
Important: It is not possible to create Projects, Subprojects or Test Setups directly in this dialog; that must be done in Linkware. However, the dialog offers buttons that take the user to the right place in Linkware, as a convenience. Of course, the user could also create these items in Linkware independently, ahead of time.
The screenshot below shows an example of a Cable Test Manager dialog that has an existing Linkware Project selected with some populated data.
In the unusual case where there are no existing Linkware projects, the dialog is slightly different; the third button on the left panel would be labeled "Create Linkware Project" and other panels would show no data populated in the grids. The screenshot below shows a similar example, when the selected project has no Task Requests assigned or no reports generated:
