If some Equipment nodes have the same Equipment node they're connected to after the manual expansion, a duplicate of that common Equipment is placed. To prevent having a duplicated branch of connections, the duplicates are created only for that node and are drawn in gray, so it's easy to distinguish them:
And when a duplicate is selected, the original node gets selected too, so the full connectivity chain of the original node can be seen:
