Replacing filtered Equipment

In addition to the variations of the Replace Equipment operation explained in the previous sections, IRM also provides a way to replace Equipment based on the current Object Grid filtering.

The normal way of replacing Equipment (by selecting it in order to do a replace operation) works fine for smaller numbers of Equipment, but for large replace operations (hundreds or more objects) there are both convenience issues and hard limits that make it either tedious or impossible to select all the Equipment.

This feature enables a replace operation that uses filters to specify the Equipment to be replaced. To start a filter-based replace operation, select the Replace All Filtered... option from the Object Grid Filter button menu:

This menu option is available from the Filter button within the Equipment Object Grid tab.

IMPORTANT: For this feature to work as expected, all the involved Equipment must be of the same Equipment Type -- this is the case no matter how the list is made (by selection or by filtering).

This requirement is enforced by initially allowing the user to select the "Replace all filtered..." option, then if all applicable objects are not of a single Equipment Type, an error dialog appears instead of the Replace Equipment dialog, showing the following text:

If no such issue appears, the Replace Equipment operation proceeds as usual and the filtered Equipment gets automatically placed into the list of Equipment to replace and the user can proceed with completing the Equipment Replace process:
