As mentioned in the introductory section, in IRM some managed objects are typed, while others are categorized. In IRM, Typed objects are those for which there is a “type object” that describes many of the attributes of the typed object.
In IRM there are several Typed objects:
Equipment,
Cables,
Software,
Consumables,
Circuits
Pathways.
For example, an Equipment Type object describes many key attributes that all Equipment objects of that type share, such as:
Model Number,
Dimensions (HxWxD),
Ports & Slots,
Front and Rear Images,
Environmental Characteristics
