4.4. Type Definitions

 
As mentioned in the introductory section, in IRM some managed objects are typed, while others are categorized. In IRM, Typed objects are those for which there is a “type object” that describes many of the attributes of the typed object.

The following subtopics describe managing the two main Typed objects in IRM, Equipment Types and Cable Types, as well as their "helper" objects, such as Ports, Slots and port linking for Equipment Types, or Media and Plugs for Cable Types, that are used in their specification.
