To better understand the potential and features of the BMC Remedy Change Management system integration with the IRM MAC System, this and the following sub-topics provide a step-by-step tutorial for using the IRM MAC System to manage assets required for a new design change specified inside the BMC Remedy Change Management Integration system.
The workflow from the image below shows the actions/tasks made within this tutorial:
The workflow starts with creating a new change request within the BMC system. The change request will require some design changes to be made within IRM. For this, a new IRM MAC Ticket will be submitted.
The design will then be managed in IRM to create all of the relevant configuration items to support the new design:
First, different design and installation documentation will be created
Next, different report documents are generated describing the changes being made within IRM
The request is then completed:
it will be demonstrated how the assets get passed back to the Remedy asset database as new configuration item entries
the ticket and the transactions in IRM are committed
all of the relevant asset and CI entries are created in the BMC Atrium database
A precondition for these actions is that the BMC setup must be completed - please refer to the this section for details on configuring the BMC Service to work with IRM.
