The following use case scenario is an example of Plug - Port Connection Mapping being used to connect the first two Cable Plugs to the first two Ports on an equipment object and the 3rd and 4th Cable Plugs to the last two Ports, in reverse order, on the same equipment.
Select and open the Equipment Properties dialog
A single left click on the Patch Panel equipment object in the Design World selects it. A right click opens its context menu and the Edit Properties... menu option opens the appropriate Equipment Properties dialog.
Select available (i.e. not connected) Port(s) from the list of Ports. This enables the Connect Cables button, which opens the Available Cables for Connections sub-dialog, displayed below. In this example all Admin side Ports are selected.
Select row entries from the list of available cables for connection. Once some appropriate Cables are selected, the Connect button is enabled. Click on it opens the Plug-Port Connection Mapping sub-dialog. In this example three Patch Cables are selected for connection. Note that depending on how the Cable is routed, this might mean that end A and/or end B Plugs are available. In this particular case, both ends are near the equipment so both Plugs are listed.
The Plug-Port Connection Mapping sub-dialog displays two columns - Selected Ports, which lists all of the Ports selected in step 2 above, and Assigned Plug, which lists all Plugs of the selected Cable(s) which are available near the equipment.
This mapping feature is useful in cases where a specific mapping of Plugs to Ports is needed. In this example 3 End A Plugs of 3 different cables need to be connected to Port #1, Port #3 and Port #5 on the equipment, with other ports left available for other cables to connect. This is done clicking on the appropriate row under Assigned Plug column and clicking down arrow buttons next to the grid. See item below for the completed mapping.
The fields under the Connected Cable column group are populated and the newly created connections can be made permanent by clicking on the Save button, or discarded by clicking on the Cancel button.
