The Contract Properties dialog is the main interface in IRM for managing Contracts. Contracts have associated Line Items that provide the details of what items are covered by the Contract and can include specific infrastructure objects such as Equipment, Circuits, etc.
This section explains each tab in Contract Properties dialog and its main features through the below images and text:
"General" tab
The General tab is a standard General tab that we have in other Object Properties dialogs throughout the application. It displays different data that describes the Contract object, some of which bold text labels are mandatory when defining a new Contract object, like Name, Number and Categories.
The General tab displays different sets of Field Name - Value pairs organized in two named accordion groups/menus (General and Audit Data), similar to other Properties dialogs in the application. Clicking on the accordion group expands/collapses the contents. This tab also enables inline editing of certain fields that are either also editable for other object types (Name, AlternateName and DataSource) or specific to Contracts (Number, Term, Starting and Ending dates).
This tab is already loaded with the data from the Category the Contract is assigned to / created under. For more details about Categories, see the following topic - Categories and Super Categories. In this example of a Contract, no values are overridden by setting custom values of the fields in this tab.
The Line Items tab is used to add, manage and assign Contract and associate Contract Line Item Numbers with the different object instances. The tab contains a data grid displaying all Line items associated with the selected Contract, along with their basic properties. The grid also enables managing the Line Item entries by adding, editing or removing them.
Each row displays basic information about a Line item, including the following properties:
Name, Price, Description - provide basic descriptive information about the Project
Service Level - descriptive text specifying the service level of the Line item
Start / EndDate - start and end date specified for Line item's execution
Targets - the list of target objects defined for the selected Line item
Each row entry / Line item can be modified simply by clicking on the pencil action button next to it, which opens a sub-dialog (the Line Item Editor), which is the same dialog that opens when the + action button is clicked. The screenshot below displays an example of the Line Item Editor dialog, opened for editing the first Line item entry:
The Line Item Editor dialog consists of three main parts:
the top part displays different descriptive data fields and enables direct editing Line Item properties
the bottom part has a List of targets grid, which displays a list of target objects for the selected Line Item.
the List of targets is editable; individual row entries are simply removed by clicking on the x Action button and the Paste button enables adding objects from the Clipboard directly into the list of targets.
An additional Remove All button enables removing all row entries.
The List of Targets tab also contains a data grid, displaying a list of Target objects for the Contract that are not associated with any specific Line Item. The columns are the same as in the List of targets grid in the Line Editor dialog.
This grid also enables editing:
adding target objects by clicking on the Paste button
removing individual row entries by clicking on the x Action button
removing all row entries by clicking on the Remove All button
