The Device Sync Ops is an essential process that establishes the connection between the CommScope devices in your network and their corresponding objects within IRM.
Think of it as a one-time setup that ensures the devices in the real world are accurately represented and mapped in IRM.
To achieve this synchronization, the Device Sync Ops uses the unique serial numbers of the objects in the IRM and correlates them with the serial numbers of the devices on the controller network.
Once this operation is executed, the Integration Service creates an IRM Proxy for each CommScope Panel and Panel Modules managed by each Controller and if a matching IRM object exists in IRM, it will correlate the physical device with the corresponding IRM equipment object.
By selecting the Proxy Object in the Data Grid and filtering the Proxy Source to show only CommScope it will present the info of all correlated Devices and Controllers with IRM as shown below.
In the External ID tab you will find the Controller serial number followed by the panel number, as shown in the below example (160001009165 is the controller number and 1 is the panel number)
Proxy Source: the Integration service that created the Proxy entry.
Proxy Variety: the type of Proxy created by the relevant Sync Op.
External ID: the serial number of the Controller and associated Panel Number NOTE: The External ID must match the Serial Number of the corresponding IRM object.
Matching IRM Object: the Name of the correlated IRM Object with a Serial Number that matches the External ID.
