Sometimes Cables are buried and enter a Maintenance Hole directly and not via a Pathway. In such cases if a Cable endpoint is placed on a Maintenance Hole and is not associated with a Pathway, then it is referred to as a Direct Cable and can be viewed in a separate fixed branch in Nested Cable/Pathway tree (seen later in the text).
The following use case scenario demonstrates placing and direct routing of a Cable into a Maintenance Hole, using the same objects as in the parent topic.
Step 1 - specify the Cable Set and the Cable instance to be inserted into Design World:
Step 2 - place the Cable into Design World, route it to the Maintenance Hole and end its route on top of it:
Step 3 - Confirm the Cable has been assigned to the Maintenance Hole via the Containment tab in the Maintenance Hole Properties dialog:
Step 4 - Confirm the Cable has been assigned to the Maintenance Hole via the Butterfly Diagram:
Step 5 - Draw the Cable in the central Butterfly View section:
From this point on, the Cable can be used as usual, i.e. it can be connected, moved around the Maintenance Hole, etc. In this example, there is an Equipment instance added to the Maintenance Hole which can be connected to the newly added Cable.
