4.3.2.2. Insert a rectangle into Design World

This topic describes the process of inserting closed polygons in a Design World Area, a feature commonly used for Space creation. The drawing operation itself is similar to the same operation in other drawing and CAD software, allowing the user to draw a rectangle in any practical size.

Click on the Create Rectangle icon  in the Design World toolbar.

This changes the mouse cursor to a crosshair, indicating the user is in a drawing mode. A left click anywhere in the Design World sets the starting point of the rectangle and then moving the mouse around changes the size and the shape of the rectangle.  The final size and shape of the object is set by double left click:

Tip: By pressing the SHIFT key while dragging the rectangle, the aspect ratio locks to a square:
1. Click on the Create Rectangle icon in the Design World toolbar.

After the initial drawing is done, the rectangle can be selected again by a single click.

This draws a red bounding box around it, with small move and rotate icons, which enable resizing and rotating the rectangle as a group:
Alternatively, individual Line vertices (Line endpoints displayed as small rectangle icons) can be moved around by click and drag, which resizes and reshapes the rectangle. 2. After the initial drawing is done, the rectangle can be selected again by a single click.
