In IRM, Cables can be created strictly inside the Design World Area, via a dedicated control within the Design World toolbox. This opens a new dialog, which allows user to specify details of the new Cable object(s), by using either an ad-hoc or previously defined Cable Set, allowing user to create cables of different types in a single drawing operation.

Note that, if the user has an Equipment object selected in the Design World and then clicks on the Create Cable button, a pop-out dialog opens that allows the user to specify what routing action to take.
The following selections are available to the user:
Install Cable at selected Equipment
Start Cable Route operation in the Design World
Cancel Create Cable operation
After this step, the newly created Cable will not be immediately drawn. Instead, the IRM User is left in Cable routing mode, where single clicks extend the route of the Cable, and a double-click ends the Cable routing.
