Port Path Trace

In order to view the path trace of a specific port on the selected Node (Equipment), right-click on the Node and select the Show physical path... context menu option.

Selecting this option for a given node, the Dependency View opens a simple sub-dialog, which allows a specific Port on that object to be chosen:

After selecting the appropriate Port, the sub-dialog is closed and the dependent path through the Dependency View is highlighted based upon the starting object:

When this option is selected, the Dependency View runs the same path trace operation that is can be run for Circuits - see Path Tracing. That is, the Dependency View highlights the longest physically connected sequence starting from the selected Port, tracing through Cables and passive Equipment with linked ports, stopping only when it encounters a linked Port with nothing connected to the other side, or an active Equipment. Note that if the selected Equipment is itself a passive Equipment, the trace goes in both directions, i.e. over the selected Port and also over the linked Port, like in the example above.

The physical path trace is often linear, but if it encounters an Equipment where a single incoming Port is linked to several other Ports, the trace follows all of the linked Ports.

If this option is activated for another node, the dependent path changes according to the Port selection and then re-highlighted. Before the new path trace highlighting is applied, any nodes that were previously highlighted are set back to normal, so only one path trace is shown at a time.
