Routing cables between Maintenance Holes

One of the features of the Butterfly Diagram is routing Cable objects inside and between Maintenance Holes. This form of cable management does not include managing Cable - Equipment connectivity.

Note: the Cable route within the the Butterfly Diagram is a graphical representation of the real Cable object allowing It to be routed and deleted independently within the butterfly layout without affecting the real cable object drawn in the Design World. This means that any change made on that cable line in this dialog will not affect the actual Cable object which it represents.

The following sub-topics explain a simple use case of routing a cable between Maintenance Holes, which can be done in the following two ways: through an existing Pathway, or directly routing the Pathway.

The following pre-conditions are assumed (already covered in previous topics):
Click on the Create Cable button in the Design World toolbar opens the Create New Cable dialog, which enables defining and drawing single or multiple Cable instances of different Cable Types in a single operation.

For the following examples a standard Twisted Pair Cat 5e Cable will be used. This Cable configuration is available as a predefined Cable Set and is available in the drop-down list once the Using Predefined Cableset radio button is selected. Select a predefined Cable Set to load its Cable Set instances in the grid. For this example, a single Cable entry is loaded and is selected by click on the checkbox under the first grid column. Click on the Save Cable Set & Create Cable button closes the Create New Cable sub-dialog and brings focus back to the main application screen.
