Media Definitions

In the Plugs tab, after the Plug Definitions section, there is a list of Media definitions defined within the Cable Type. This grid gives the user an alternate way of associating Plugs with Media. The last 2 columns for Each Media entry show if either EndA or EndB of the Cable has a Plug assigned. If a row entry does not contain any values for these columns, that means this Media is not connected to a Plug.

At the bottom of the dialog 2 action buttons are available to either Remove Plugs from the Cable Media or to Bulk Assign plugs to the Cable media.

5. "Auto/Batch Populate Plugs" button
Click on button opens Auto / Batch Populate Plugs sub-dialog that lists available Plug Types and their basic properties. The list only shows Plug Types for which the remainder of (Number of Media Definitions) / (Number of Plug Connection Points) is equal to zero.

Note: For auto-population to work, the number of  Media should exactly match the connections points in the number of Plugs.

The Media selection determines which buttons on the bottom of the dialog are enabled:
  • Add Plug to End A
  • Add Plugs to End B
  • Add Plugs to End A & B

Click on Exit button closes the sub-dialog and brings back focus to the main Cable Type Properties-Plugs tab dialog. All changes made in this dialog are automatically propagated in the main dialog (without the need of separately saving them).

Note: Auto-Batch operations are disabled for hybrid cables which have a mixture of different media types i.e fiber and copper media.
