4.3.10.6. Routing Cables over Pathways

In IRM's Design World, aside from creating and inserting new Cables and Pathways, it is possible to manage relationship between those objects. This can be done either at the moment of creating/inserting, or by extending an existing Cable end. In both cases, a Cable can be either drawn / extended over the Pathway's route, meaning it is contained inside the Pathway object or in one of its child Pathways.

In terms of routing cables over Pathways, there are two scenarios to understand based on the two main varieties of Pathway objects:

The main difference between the two cases is as follows:

Overall, the following features will be covered in this and the following sub-topics:

In order to show these features (and other details) in a real-world example, it is necessary for the objects used for this example to already exist in the Design World.

TIP: When attempting to assign Cable(s) to a Pathway, make sure you reroute the Cable(s) over the Pathway first, before trying to assign.
